Christmas Cookies

Not-so-ugly Christmas Sweaters

I think Ugly Christmas Sweaters get a bad rap because some of them are (gasp) beautiful! All is forgiven at Christmas time...even questionable fashion choices.

Christmas Mittens

There’s nothing cuter than mittens, right? Gloves just can’t compete with mittens in the “cuteness” department. Let’s all clap our mittened hands!

Chocolate for Christmas

These chocolate sandwich cookies are a traditional favorite in our house. The dark chocolate cookie filled with white chocolate ganache makes for a delicious cookie.

Christmas Sweaters

Sweaters, hats, scarves...all these cookie critters get a cozy garment. The cats were the least successful but I can’t be blamed for that. They refused to cooperate.

White Christmas

White Christmas Tree Cookies are a yummy treat to munch on while we take down the tree, write thank you notes, and eat turkey soup made from leftover Christmas “beast.”

Christmas Slippers

Pretty chocolate-dipped shortbread is the perfect treat for children of all ages. A plate full of these left out for Santa will bring a hearty “Ho Ho Ho” from the big guy.

Christmas Wreaths

Baking and decorating Christmas Wreath Cookies brings Christmas inside and these dainty and delicious bites make the house smell lovely. Let the season begin!

Easy Snowflakes

I’m fascinated with snowflake cutout cookies and have come up with a quick-and-easy way to decorate them when I have no time or have run out of “cookie decorating steam.”

The Elegant Snowflake

Like real snowflakes, each one of these cookies is different and they don’t last long once you start passing them around the table.

Snowy Trees for Christmas

Snowy trees are one of nature’s most beautiful sights. Although that beauty can never be entirely captured in a cookie, it most definitely inspires the effort.

Red Christmas Ornaments

These Brown Butter Red Christmas Ornament Cookies are the epitome of the Christmas holiday cookie... they’re red, they’re beautiful, and they’re delicious.

Angels, Angels, Angels

Angels come in all different shapes and sizes. These delicate and tasty shortbread angel cookies remind me of how much I treasure the “angels” in my life.

Sandies (from Minnesota?)

Mom would make Sandies every Christmas and adding them to my Christmas cookie plate brings back memories of happy Christmases past.

Mittens, Hats, & Sweaters

Winter clothing always makes for colorful cutout cookies...mittens and stocking caps, socks and scarves. And don’t forget that ugly sweater.

Christmas Trees & Stars

Christmas trees are a blank canvas for sweet decorations...anything goes, any color combinations, any shapes, loads of sprinkles and as much sugar as the cookie can hold.

Funny Little Trees

Christmas tree cookies can be fancy or quirky. The most important thing is that they are delicious. These funny little Christmas trees are yummy and they’ll make you smile.

Santas & Snowmen

Santas and Snowmen area always part of my holiday cookie baking. Their funny faces and joyful spirits help make Christmas the best time of the year.

Christmas at the Zoo

Lions, and tigers, and bear. OH MY! Yes, even the animals at the zoo celebrate Christmas...at least they do at my house.

Snowflakes

Snowflakes are such delicate and beautiful shapes. And I must admit that my favorite way to decorate them is white-on-white so that the shapes get all the attention.

Gingerbread Cookies

So...when you eat a gingerbread man, what do you bite off first? This is the burning question of the season. I make enough to test every possible combination. You’re welcome.

Gingerbread Town

I bought a kit to build 4 small Gingerbread houses with the kids. But we needed people! So I made people, trees, snowmen and attached them to small gingerbread cookies so they could stand on the “streets.” What fun we had!

Cookies for Santa

Cookies that refuse to be type-cast but nevertheless play a significant role in my holiday baking extravaganza.

Angels from on High

One of the first cutout cookies I make are angels of some form or another when holiday baking starts. These messengers from heaven speak clearly of the miracle of the season.

Raspberry-Filled Cookies

The homemade raspberry jam filling in these treats is the perfect tart complement to the melt-in-your-mouth, sweet, and buttery cookie. Yum. Double yum.
