Recipes

On each page of my website I include external links to other cookie artists’ recipes that I’ve tried so that you can visit those creative bakers’ websites. In this section, I’m delighted to share my own family recipes and my versions of recipes that I’ve tweaked, giving full credit to the original, of course, and clearly marking the adjustments and additions that I’ve made.

With its cloak of pure chocolate, a buttery shortbread cookie is sublime. And this one-ingredient recipe is so easy. The chocolate makes shortbread especially delicious while adding a touch of elegance. I used it to dip these shortbread cookies that I gave to a friend as a thank-you gift.

I've been experimenting with a non-dairy alternative to chocolate mousse for quite a while and this is “The one.” My brother-in-law, who has very high standards when it comes to chocolate, says: “The variety of textures—velvety mousse and crunchy crust—make these unique. This is definitely a dessert to put on your ‘save, and don't lose’ list.  Well done!”

This gluten-free version of my classic shortbread has the perfect butter-y flavor and just-right level of sweetness you expect in shortbread. If you — or someone you love — have eliminated gluten from your diet and are missing shortbread, give this a try. No one will guess that it’s gluten-free.

The tweaks made to this classic cookie by America’s Test Kitchen have added a ton of flavor to an old favorite. My goddaughter enthusiastically approves. I highly recommend ATK’s The Perfect Cookie for this and other cookie recipes that will bring smiles to everyone who eats them.

I’ve made David Lebovitz’s chocolate sauce for years so when I wanted a thicker version, I used his recipe as a starting point. I love that this chocolate sauce has no cream or butter in it, but is still unbelievably rich and smooth. A jar of this sauce makes a perfect gift for any chocolate lover.

All my dogs have loved these crunchy peanut butter biscuits. I like knowing what goes into the food I give them and I love to bake, so everyone — furry and not-so-furry — wins. Thanks to the King Arthur Flour website for this Lucy-approved recipe!

The perfect comfort cookie...crispy on the edges, chewy on the inside and full of nuts and dried cranberries. The buttery, brown-sugar flavor feels like a bear hug from your favorite person. P.S. Trail Mix Cookies make a delicious treat to take on a hiking or camping trip.

These cookies taste like coffee cake. The cookie itself is delicate and buttery and the cinnamon-sugar coating calls to mind the best part of a cinnamon-covered doughnut.
